Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu vecāku emocionālā intelekta un stresa līmeņa rādītāju saistību ar audzināšanas pieejām. Kopā pētījumā piedalījās 41 māte. Vidējais vecums mātēm – 33 gadi, bērnu vidējais vecums – 5 gadi.
Pētījumā tika izmantotas šādas metodes: “ Bar-On Emocionālā intelekta aptauja”,
The aim of the research was to examine the connection between parents of preschool children emotional intelligence, the parental stress level and the parenting.
41 mother participated in this research, mean age for mother –33 years, for children – 5 years.
Respondents completed Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-I, Bar -On, 1997), The Alabama Parenting Questionnaire – Preschool Revision (Clerkin, Marks, Policaro& Halperin, 2007), Parental stress index – short form (Abidin, 1990).
In this research it was found out that there is a positive correlation between mothers’ emotional intelligence and positive parenting practices, there exists a negative correlation between mothers’ emotional intelligence and stress level; there exists a positive correlation between mothers’ stress level and punitive or inconsistent parenting; and a negative correlation between mothers’ stress level and positive parenting. Upon entering all of the emotional intelligence factors and mothers’ stress level factors together in a multiple regression analysis with positive parenting as the dependent variable, mothers’ lower stress levels and higher ratings of assertiveness proved to be the strongest predictors of positive parenting practices.
Key word: emotional intelligence, maternal stress level, positive parenting.
