The goal of the Bachelor Thesis was to examine how large correlation existed between satisfaction with marriage and the applied stress management strategies. The study involved 30 married couples – 30 women and 30 men, age from 25 to 40, who lived together at least a year and whose education level was not lesser than secondary. The Bachelor Thesis was performed on the basis of two methods: the inquiry of stress coping strategies made by St. E. Hobfoll and his colleagues - SACS (Strategic Approach to Coping Scale, Hobfoll, 1998), which had undergone adaptation in Latvian by V. Mika (Mika, 2004), and marital satisfaction scale from Dyadic adjustment scale - DAS (Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Spanier, 1976), the adaptation of which in Latvian was performed by D. Ķiršakmene (Ķiršakmene, 2004). Conclusions made according to the results of the study were as following: the selected women for the study presented a statistically significant correlation between satisfaction with marriage and social joining in stress coping, and satisfaction with marriage and looking for a social support in stress coping. The goal of the study was attained, acquiring response to the subject brought forward for the investigation by the Bachelor Thesis. The conclusions drawn in the present paper could be put to good use for further investigations in the field, as well as on the grounds of the acquired results other studies could be carried out and also the subject brought forward by the study could be examined within other studies.
