Katra grupa sastāv no 4 apgalvojumiem, katrs atbilst kādam no depresijas simptomiem.
Atslēgas vārdi: sociālā adaptācija, psiholoģiskā adaptācija, akulturācija, imigrants This study is to understand and describe the processes that people have to go through in new country in immigration at the time. For this purpose, were analyzed in a prior researches was conducted and made the new research. The aim was to discover the positive the relationships between social adaptation and psychological adaptation.
The 50 respondents were Polish immigrants, now they live and work in England. Participants were of both sexes aged 19-54 years. The average age 27.25 years of respondent. Youngest respondent was 19 years old; the oldest was 54 years old. The study included 58% women and 42% of men. All participants live in England for 3-5 years.
In this study used two questionnaires, the BDI (Beck's Depression Inventory) to measure psychological adaptation and the work’s independently compiled questionnaire measuring social adaptation. Social adaptation was primarily assessed by the assessment of language skills (writing, comprehension, reading, speaking). While the psychological adaptation is used is a 21-question multiple-choice self-report inventory, one of the most widely used instruments for measuring the severity of depression. Its development marked a shift among health care professionals, who had until then viewed depression from a psychodynamic perspective, instead of it being rooted in the patient's own thoughts.
The study results indicate that significant interdependence between the social and psychological adaptation was found. This means that the study hypothesis was not confirmed, but it coincides with other studies, their results. This can mainly be attributed to the fact that this relationship appears in the new country living a longer time; it is more than five years.
The results of this study suggest that the integration authorities who develop programmes to promote adaptation among voluntary immigrants must recognize that particularly those programmes aimed at developing proper skills in the host language from the very beginning of the acculturation process are most likely to be helpful and also most efficient in terms of long-term integration and psychological adaptation. In addition, it seems clear that acculturation and adaptation among adult immigrants are long and slow processes that may take over a decade and, therefore, require patience before their positive developments and outcomes become visible.
