This research set to find out how mothers’ insightfulness is related to mothers’ anger and the evaluation of child behaviour problems. 22 mothers (mean age 30,8 years) with their 2 – 2,5 year old children (mean age 2,2 years, 12 male and 10 female) were videotaped during normal playtime followed by an interview with the mother. As the result of the research 20 criteria of mothers’ insightfulness were derived from the interviews and 5 mothers’ behaviour categories from the video material. To find out the child problem behaviour evaluation and the intensity of mothers’ anger, the adaptation of the Parent Anger Inventory (Sedlar G., Hansen D. J., 2001). The results showed that mothers’ evaluation of child behaviour problems was related to an emotionally unattached view of the child leading to the inability to see things from the child’s perspective and creating problems with the understanding of child behaviour motives. Results didn’t show any relation between mothers’ insightfulness about child behaviour motives and mothers’ anger.
