Reviving the activities and first three seasons
of the Latvian
Dr mas and the Dailes Theatre (1944 1947) . The goal of the work is to consider the processes
that are connected with the reviving the functions of the both theatres in the postwar conditions.
It contains a short survey of the newly staged plays in order to have a concept of the postwar
theatre repertoire and actors performance in the shows. In the work there are reviewed some
aspects of dramatics and the art of direction in the conditions of social realism. Attention is paid
also to the efforts of theatres to draw new talented actors to the collectives of theatres, forming
studies of dramatics by theatres. The affect of the Soviet political system's pressure on Latvian
stage art and the changes of repertoire are discussed, as well as there is a try to describe the
peculiarities of the active periods of both first biggest theatres.
