Due to climatic and geographical conditions forest and woodworking industry in Latvia historically has been one of the economy support sectors. Forest sector has always been export oriented, and its present contribution to export, which has been very stable for several years, reveals the significant impact that the sector has upon the economic growth of the state and its macroeconomic stability.
