The Bachelor’s Paper is devoted to the reflection of the image of a Latvian woman in women’s magazines both in articles and images during the authoritarian regime of Karlis Ulmanis. The aim of the Paper is to study Latvian woman’s image using women’s magazines, ideological works and publications of politicians’ speeches during the authoritarian regime as well as archive materials and scientific literature to evaluate the attitude of society to female gender. The main conclusions: the dominating image of a Latvian woman in women’s magazines was reflected as a mother and wife ready to sacrifice herself, that is, a typical family woman whose work in private sector contributes to the interests of her nation and country. Nevertheless some women inspired by the ideas of liberal feminism supported equal gender rights to education, paid jobs and public activities.
