Atslēgvārdi: nafta, cenas, šoks, inflācija, salīdzinājums Changes in oil prices have been associated with major developments in the world economy, and are often seen as a trigger for inflation and recession. Higher oil prices are contributing to high levels of unemployment and increase budget-deficit problems in many OECD and other oil-importing countries. The goal of this paper is to find out the economical effect of high oil prices. In order to achieve this goal, the following tasks were set:
•Identify the factors that directly or indirectly affect oil price formation
•Analyze the dynamics of oil prices in a period of 1970-2010
•Determine the oil price formation mechanism
•Examine the global oil market and transaction types in it
•Compare the scientific predictions of oil price change
The obtained results are summarized in the conclusion section.
