no Eiropas centra vidējo-termiņu laika prognozēm (ECMWF).
In this thesis the possibilities of using R programming language for the analysis of meteorological
and geostatistical data are examined. Author analyses Meuse River data set, rainfall
data for Latvian territory and gives a brief theoretic outlook of available satellite and radar data.
Meuse river data is described because it is considered to be classical example of application of
geostatical methods. In cooperation with the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology
Center precipitation data were obtained from the Latvian observation stations for 2013. These
data were compared with a reanalisys of rainfall data of Latvian territory, which was obtained
from the European Centre for medium-term weather forecasts (ECMWF). In a practical part of
work a program that allows to display the geostatistical and meteorological data on a map and
apply kriging procedure to them was developed.
