Bickel and Rosenblatt (1973) proposed a goodness-of-fit test based on the integrated squared error between the kernel density estimate and the parametric density. The test has the same limiting distribution for independent observations and absolutely regular processes. This holds true for both simple and composite hypothesis. Despite it's good properties this test has a big drawback – it can not be applied practically due to the problematic bandwidth parameter choice. Recently for similar test statistics Gao and Gijbels (2008) solved the problem of bandwidth choice by establishing closed-form expressions for both size and power functions. In this thesis the asymptotic behavior of the test is investigated by simulation study. Moreover it is shown how the result of Gao and Gijbels could be applied for the Bickel–Rosenblatt statistic.
