The work is devoted to the study of separation axioms in topological and in fuzzy topological spaces. The concept of a topological space is defined in a very general way, and therefore usually working in the field of topology and its applications one has to require additional properties which the topology has to satisfy. Among the most important additional requirements for a topological space are separation type properties.
Our work consists of two parts. In the first part we consider separation properties for topological spaces. Some of them are well known (in particular Hausdorfness, regularity and normality), while others are more special. In the second part of the work separation axioms are considered in the context of fuzzy topological spaces. Here we describe separation properties studied and described in the literature since 1970, as well as introduce and study new Hausdorff type properties for fuzzy topological spaces, which allow to evaluate the degree of separation in a fuzzy topological space.
