Gotiskās iezīmes Čarlza Dikensa darbos

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā „Gotiskā iezīmes Čārlza Dikensa darbos” tiek aplūkota gan gotiskā žanra vēsture gan, kā Čārlz Dikenss izmantojis to savos darbos. Šī darba pirmā nodaļa iepazīstina ar gotiskā žanra iezīmēm un to attīstību no gotiskā romāna līdz gotiskam stāstām. Darba otrajā nodaļā tiek aprakstīta angļu rakstnieka Čārlza Dikensa stāstu cikla „Christmas Books” ietekme uz Ziemassvētku tradīcijām . Darba trešajā daļa tiek analizēti pieci stāsti no „Christmas Books” , katrs stāsts tiek apskatīts atsevišķi ar mērķi noteikt, kādas gotiskā žanra iezīmes Dikenss ir izmantojis, rakstot savus Ziemassvētku stāstus, un kā ar laiku mainījās gotiskais vēstījums dažādos šī cikla stāstos. Pētījuma mērķis ir noteikt, kā ir izveidojies Gotiskais žanrs literatūrā un kā Dikenss ir izmantojis Gotisko stilu savos darbos. This bachelor paper ‘Representations of the Gothic in Charles Dickens’ writings’ studies the history of the Gothic genre and Dickens` contribution to it and most famous and influential writings of authors like Horace Walpole and Ann Radcliffe. The first chapter describes the main features of Gothic genre, the history of the Gothic in literature and explores the transition from the Gothic novel to the Gothic short story. The second chapter of this paper looks into Charles Dickens` influence on Christmas traditions he made with his Christmas Books . The third part of this bachelor paper is analysis of Christmas Books , each story is analyzed separately and the main purpose of analysis is to define what features of Gothic Dickens used when writing these stories and how the use of the Gothic changes through time.
