In this study, accumulation of tritium in neutron irradiated beryllium pebbles has been investigated. The pebbles were irradiated by fast neutrons during the HIDOBE-01 irradiation program in the high flux reactor HFR in Petten (The Netherlands). Irradiation was carried out at different temperatures: 425 0C, 525 0C, 650 0C, 750 0C. Tritium specific activity of the irradiated HIDOBE-01 beryllium pebbles has been measured and distribution of gaseous tritium in bulk of the pebbles was investigated. Intensive tritium release occurs at temperatures which overcome 525 oC. Tritium chemical forms were determined. Tritium mainly accumulates in molecular form T2. Tritium ion and radical forms also are present in the pebbles, but their concentrations are significantly smaller. It might indicate that recombination of the free radicals into molecules in analysed samples has occurred widely. The obtained results have been compared with tritium activity and distribution of it chemical forms in beryllium pebbles which were irradiated in the PBA experiment.
