In master work is studied a recolonization of zoobenthos in recultivated stretch of a stream Jaunupe 4 km before an inflow in the River Salaca below Vecsalaca. Jaunupe is a canal dug in 17th century which connects the River Svētupe and the River Salaca.
In this work are observed the changes of abiotic and biotic elements of river ecosystem. The experience of the world and Latvian scientists about bioindication and the use of benthic invertebrates as the bioindicators for assessment of river recultivation is aggregated. The most representative groups of benthic invertebrates and their changes in the result of a recultivation of stream Jaunupe reposed to a results from 4 different microbiotops at crossection of stream Jaunupe 1 day before and 1, 3, 5, 10 and 30 days after the recultivation work are described.
It is stated that the recolonization of zoobenthos proceeded in 6 days. Decrease in the vegetation density favour a changes in stream velocity and substrate that result in the increase of characteristic species of lotic waters.
