Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot Franas stāva psammosteīdu ārējā skeleta mikromorfoloģijas likumsakarības un to izmantošanas iespējas taksonu diagnosticēšanā, pētīt dermālo pauguriņu mikroskulptūru, izmantojot skenējošo elektronmikroskopu. Pētījuma rezultāti varētu tikt izmantoti biostratigrāfijā. Apskatīta Psammolepis undulata, Psammosteus maeandrinus un Ps. megalopteryx dermālo pauguriņu morfoloģijas mainība atsevišķu branhiālo plātņu ietvaros, sastādītas plātņu zonālās uzbūves shēmas. Dermālo pauguriņu forma varētu būt saistīta ar plātnes un dentīna pauguriņa augšanas tempu attiecībām. Dermālo pauguriņu virsmā ir atrastas mikroapertūras, mikropauguriņi, poligonālie veidojumi. Mikropauguriņi norāda uz dermālā pauguriņa augšanas īpatnībām. Poligonālie veidojumi atspoguļo dermālo pauguriņu ietverošo mīksto audu stiprināšanas mehānismu. The surface of the exoskeleton of the Frasnian psammosteids has been studied using the scanning electron microscope. The ultrasculpture of tubercle surface was observed on tubercles detached from whole branchial plates and plate fragments. As a result of study of morphological variability of tubercles belonging to Psammolepis undulata, Psammosteus maeandrinus and Ps. megalopteryx branchial plate maps are created, showing the distribution of tubercles of different types. Several ultrasculpture elements of the psammosteid tubercle surface, such as microscopic knobs and “honeycomb pattern”, are described. It is concluded that the morphological type of tubercles most probably is dependent on the growth rates of both plate and tubercle. Microscopic knobs reflect the processes of probable mode of ossification. The “honeycomb cells” might be imprints of epidermal soft tissue.
