Skujkoku aprakstu tulkošana no latviešu valodas uz angļu valodu

Abstract

Diplomdarba tēma ir skujkoku aprakstu tulkošana no latviešu uz angļu valodu. Darba mērķis ir pierādīt pamatzināšanu nozīmi skujkoku aprakstu tulkošanā, kā arī izšķirt galvenās tulkošanas problēmas. Diplomdarbs sastāv no teorētiskā materiāla analīzes par tulkošanas metodēm, kuras iespējams pielietot skujkoku aprakstu tulkošanā. Darbs sniedz ieskatu skujkoku terminoloģijā angļu un latviešu valodās, kā arī pēta pieejamos terminoloģijas avotus. Darba teorētisko daļu papildina darba autora tulkojuma praktiska analīze. Veiktais pētījums pierāda, ka pamatzināšanas skujkoku audzēšanas nozarē, kā arī speciālistu ieteikumi ir ļoti svarīgi veicot skujkoku aprakstu tulkošanu.

The theme of the diploma paper is the translation of conifer descriptions from Latvian into English. The goal of the present paper is to prove the importance of subject competence in rendering conifer related texts and single out main translation difficulties. The diploma paper contains the study and analysis of the theoretical sources regarding translation methods and strategies that can be applied in conifer related texts, gives an insight in conifer related terminology both in Latvian and English and singles out sources, which provide conifer related terminology. The study and analysis of the theoretical sources are supplemented by analysis of practical examples from the translation by the author of the present paper. The investigation proved that background knowledge, field-related skills and specialist consultations are essential for successful translation of conifer descriptions into English.
