Diplomdarba „Ģenētiskās inženierijas terminoloģija” mērķis ir izpētīt terminoloģijas teorētiskos pamatus, kā arī aprakstīt un analizēt esošo latviešu valodas ģenētiskās inženierijas terminoloģiju, balstoties uz terminiem no dažādiem tekstiem. Izmantotās metodes ir teorijas izpēte, terminu glosārija izveide un atrastā materiāla analīze. Diplomdarbs sastāv no trīs nodaļām, un tajās aplūkota terminoloģija kā nozare dažādos tās aspektos un kā nozares terminu kopums, terminoloģijas infrastruktūra Latvijā un esošā ģenētiskās inženierijas terminoloģija latviešu valodā. Rezultāti liecina, ka latviešu valodā ir diezgan daudz ģenētiskās inženierijas terminu, bet to lietojums nereti ir nekonsekvents, un atsevišķiem angļu valodas terminiem nav ekvivalentu latviešu valodā. The goal of the diploma paper „Genetic Engineering Terminology” is to research relevant literature about terminology, as well as to discuss and analyze Latvian genetic engineering terminology based on terms found in various texts. Research methods include literature review, glossary compilation, and a discussion of the compiled material. The paper is divided into three chapters discussing various aspects of terminology as a discipline and as a set of terms, terminology infrastructure in Latvia, and the existing Latvian genetic engineering terminology. The findings demonstrate that there is a number of genetic engineering terms in Latvian, but they are often used inconsistently and a number of English terms lack approved Latvian equivalents.
