Bakalaura darba mērķis ir veltījuma literatūras kā kultūrvēsturiskā mantojuma raksturojums. Bakalaura darbā ir izklāstīta vācbaltiešu literatūras vēsture, tās attīstība. Darbā ir aprakstīti arī ar vācbaltiešu iedzīvotājiem saistīti vēsturiski notikumi Baltijā 20.gadsimta pirmajā pusē. Plašāk raksturota vācbaltiešu dzeja un proza 20.gadsimta pirmajā pusē, aktuālākie literatūras virzieni, tematika, minēti daži pazīstamākie rakstnieki, viņu Latvijā un Vācijā izdotie daiļdarbi. Salīdzinoši vairāk iepazīta triju Kurzemes vācbaltiešu rakstnieku - Ģertrūdes von Brinkenas, Kārļa Vormsa un Elizabetes Brauncas-Gērkes - biogrāfijas un apskatīta viņu literārā daiļrade.

The aim of the bachelor paper is to characterize the dedicatory literature as a cultural-historical heritage. The paper expounds the history of Baltic German literature, its development. It describes the historical events in the first half of the 20th century related to the Baltic Germans. The Baltic German poetry and prose in the first half of the 20th century, most outstanding schools of literature, themes are described in more detail as well as several most popular writers and their works published in Latvia and Germany are mentioned in the paper. Comparatively more attention is paid to the biographies and works of three Baltic German writers from Courland - Gertrud von Brincken, Carl Vorms and Elisabeth Braunz-Goercke.
