Dotā maģistra darba temats ir “Izaicinājumi ES direktīvu par pārtikas drošību tulkošanā latviešu valodā.”
Pirmajā nodaļā es analizēju tulkošanas teorijas dažādus aspektus: pieeju tulkošanai no vēsturiskās perspektīvas, oriģinālteksta nozīmes saglabāšana. Tā kā dotā darba temats ir ES direktīvu tulkošana, teorētiskajā analīzē īpaši tiek uzsvērtas normas un vadlīnijas juridisko tekstu tulkošanā.
Darba otrā nodaļa ir veltīta praktiskajai ES direktīvu analīzei. ES direktīvas ir analizētas rūpīgi, pamatojoties uz divām stratēģijām, kas pielietotas doto direktīvu tulkošanā: transponēšana, strukturālās izmaiņas teikuma ietvaros
Semantiskās stratēģijas, kas pielietotas konkrēto direktīvu tulkošanā: modulācija, leksiskā pievienošana un dzēšana. Secinājumos sniegts dotā darba kopsavilkums.

In the first chapter I have analyzed the translation theory from various aspects: approaches to translation in a historical perspective, maintenance of meaning expressed in the original. The norms and guidelines in theoretical analysis have been highlighted, as the theme of the following Master thesis concerns the translation of EU Directives.
The second chapter is devoted to the practical analysis of EU Directives. The English source texts of EU Directives and their Latvian translations have been analyzed thoroughly to identify their semantic, syntactic and pragmatic characteristics. Main syntactic strategies applied in translations of EU Directives are: transposition, structural changes within the sentence, modulation, literal translation. Semantic strategies applied are: modulation, lexical addition and deletion.
The summary of the research is provided in the conclusions.
