Interpunkcijas salīdzinošā analīze angļu un latviešu valodā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir centrēts uz angļu un latviešu valodu interpunkciju līdzībām un atšķirībām, parādot arī atšķirības pieturzīmju lietojumā starp britu un amerikāņu angļu valodām. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt atšķirības sešu pieturzīmju lietojumā starp valodām un pierādīt, ka latviešu interpunkcijas prakse ir līdzīgāka amerikāņu angļu valodas praksei. Pētījums veikts balstoties uz teorētisko (literatūras apskats) un empīrisko (teksta analīze) pētīšanas metodi. Teorija liecina, ka latviešu interpunkcijas prakse ir līdzīgāka amerikāņu angļu valodas praksei. Pētījums, kas tika veikts par pieturzīmju lietojumu publicistikas stila tekstos, pierādīja, ka pieturzīmju lietojumā starp valodām pastāv vairāk atšķirību nekā līdzību, bet tomēr latviešu lietojums ir tuvāks amerikāņu angļu valodas lietojumam.

The thesis concentrates on differences and similarities between punctuation systems of the English and the Latvian languages, thus differentiating between British English (BrE) and American English (AmE) usages. The purpose of the research is to investigate the differences in the use of six punctuation marks between languages and to prove that Latvian punctuation practice is closer to AmE practice. Methods used in the research were both theoretical (literature review) and empirical (discourse analysis). Theory states that Latvian punctuation practice is closer to AmE punctuation practice. The research made on punctuation in the texts of publicistic style proved that there are more differences than similarities in punctuation use between languages, but still Latvian practice tend to be closer to AmE practice.
