Patentu tulkojumu salīdzinošā analīze

Abstract

Šis diplomdarbs ir veltīts patentu tulkojumu salīdzinošajai analīzei. Diplomdarba mērķis ir pierādīt, ka tehniski teksti nav terminu kopums, bet ļoti šauru un specifisku terminu un citu teikumu īpašību kombinācija. Lai sasniegtu iepriekšminēto, tika veikta tehnisku tekstu analīze un tulkojums, kā arī tika izskatītas to funkcijas un mērķi. Diplomdarba praktiskā daļa tika vērsta uz patentu tulkojumu salīdzinošo analīzi. Tika apspriestas galvenās patentu daļas – izgudrojuma apraksts un pretenzijas. Diplomdarba hipotēze: pastāvīgi fokusējoties uz terminoloģiju, tulkotājs mēdz palaist garām teksta struktūru kopumā un izraisa kļūdas, kas var pilnīgi mainīt ne tikai patenta būtību, bet arī patenta īpašnieka tiesību apjomu. Nobeigumā tika piedāvāti daži ieteikumi patentu tulkotājiem.

The present diploma paper covers contrastive analysis of patent translation. The purpose is to prove that technical texts is not a collection of terms, but a combination of narrow specialized terms with other features. To reach the mentioned goal an insight into the analysis and translation of technical texts, functions and purposes thereof is made. The practical part deals with the contrastive analysis of patent translation. The specification and the claims are discussed as the most important parts of the patent. The hypothesis that the constant focus on terminology deprives the translator of paying attention to the overall structure of the text and results in mistakes that corrupt not only the essence of the patent, but also the scope of legal protection of patent holder’s rights is made. Finally, some recommendations for patent translators are given.
