Vampīra tēls no Brema Stokera līdz Terijam Pračetam

Abstract

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noteikt, kādas pārmaiņas vampīra tēlā notikušas laika posmā no 1891 līdz 1991.gadam, un analizēt vampīru iezīmes T. Pračeta romānos. Pētījums ietver pieejamās teorētiskās literatūras par semiotiku un intertekstualitāti analīzi un četru romānu un divu filmu analīzi. Analīzes rezultāti liecina, ka vampīra tēls gadu gaitā ir mainījies, tomēr galvenās iezīmes paliek nemainīgas. Vēl viens secinājums ir, ka Pračets pārceļ vampīru citā kontekstā, kas padara tēlu humoristisku, nevis šausminošu. Šeit humors lielā mērā ir atkarīgs no lasītāju zināšanu līmeņa, jo tas ir balstīts uz pazīstamu tēlu neparastu attēlojumu un pazīstamu vārdu un situāciju nepareizu interpretāciju.

The aim of the BA paper is to determine what shifts have happened in the image of the vampire in the period from 1891 to 1991 and to define the vampire character in T. Pratchett’s novels. The study includes an analysis of literature available on semiotics and intertextuality and an analysis of four novels and two films. The results of the analysis show that the vampire image has changed several of its features thought the years; however the basic traits remain the same. Another finding is that Pratchett places the vampire in a different context which renders the image humorous instead of horrifying. Here the humour largely depends on the level of prior knowledge of the reader, as it is based on unusual depiction of familiar images and on misinterpretations of different familiar words and situations.
