ES brošūras ir rakstītas angļu valodā, taču tām jābūt iztulkotām citās oficiālajās valodās. Šī darba mērķis ir noteikt izplatītākās problēmas ES brošūru tulkošanā no angļu valodas uz latviešu un krievu valodām. Lai novērtētu tulkojumus, darbā tika izanalizēti dažādi teorētiskie materiāli; turklāt praktiskajā daļā ir pielietots kombinēts tulkojumu novērtēšanas modelis. Šī modeļa pielietojums palīdzēja noteikt pamatproblēmas četros leksikas un gramatikas līmeņos, kā arī tulkošanas metodi. Pie šīm problēmām attiecas neprecīza terminoloģijas tulkošana, stila neatbilstība, kļūdas gramatikā un interpunkcijā. Šīs problēmas varētu novērst rūpīgāka tekstu pārbaude un terminoloģijas tulkošanas standartu izstrāde.

Usually designed in English, the brochures of the EU should be translated into other official languages. The purpose of this paper is to distinguish the common problems in the translation of EU brochures from English into Latvian and Russian. In order to assess the translations, various theoretical materials are analyzed, and a hybrid model of translation assessment is applied. This allowed the distinction of the basic problem areas on four lexico-grammatical levels as well as distinguishing the method of translation used. The problems detected concern the inconsistent rendering of terminology, stylistic deficiency as well as grammar and punctuation mistakes. To add, more careful text revision and fixed standards of terminology rendering could eliminate these problems.
