Kuhulina tēls īru sāgās un populārajā kultūrā

Abstract

Jau kopš seniem laikiem cilvēkiem ir patikuši stāsti par varoņiem. Agrīnās īru sāgas, kas tiek uzskatīta par trešo senāko literatūru Eiropā, stāsta par īru dižāko varoni Kuhulinu. Šī darba mēŗkis bija izpētīt Kuhulina tēla diahronisko attēlojumu Olsteras cikla agrīnajās īru sāgās, kā arī mūsdienu populārajā kultūrā. Pielietotās pētījuma metodes bija gan teorētiskas, gan empīriskas. Teorētiskās metodes iekļāva atbilstīgās literatūras par mitoloģiju un varoņa mītu izpēti. Empīriskās metodes ietvēra Kuhulina tēla analīzi sāgā Tēns – Lopu Aizdzīšana un vēl divās sāgās, kā arī mūsdienu populārajā mūzikā, animācijā un komiksos. Tika veiktas arī divas intervijas. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka Kuhulina tēls joprojām tiek izmantots populārajā kultūrā un tādējādi nav saistīts tikai ar kādu noteiktu laiku un žanru, bet sāgu notikumi tiek attēloti mazāk nežēlīgā un naturālistiskā veidā nekā aprakstīts sāgās.

People have liked the stories about heroes since ancient times. The early Irish sagas, which are considered to be the third oldest literature in Europe, narrate about the greatest Irish hero CúChulainn. The aim of this research was to explore the diachronic representation of the image of CúChulainn in the early Irish sagas of the Ulster Cycle and in modern popular culture. The applied research methods were both theoretical and empirical. The theoretical methods implied the study of the relevant literature on mythology and the hero of the myth. The empirical methods included the analysis of the image of CúChulainn in the saga The Táin and two other sagas as well as in modern popular music, animation and comics. Moreover, two interviews were carried out. The results show that the image of CúChulainn is still employed in popular culture and therefore is not time and genre bound; however, it is depicted in a less violent or naturalistic manner than described in the sagas.
