Abstract

Bakalaura darba “Vēstījuma stratēģijas Maikla Kaningema romānā “Stundas”” mērķis ir aprakstīt nozīmīgākās vēstījuma stratēģijas un to funkcijas, kā arī aplūkot to prakstisko pielietojumu Maikla Kaninghema darbā. Teorētiskās daļas mērķis ir izklāstīt galvenās vēstījuma stratēģijas un to veidus. Tajā ietvertas svarīgāko vēstījuma stratēģiju definīcijas un piemēri no Maikla Kaningema romāna. Pētījuma prakstiskajā daļā analizētas metodes, ar kuru palīdzību rakstnieks sasaistījis trīs sižeta līnijas, kuru darbība norisinās dažādos laika posmos, ka arī piedāvāts izvērsts pārskats par motīviem un simboliem, kas atkārtojas visās sižeta līnijās, iedibinot saskarsmes punktus starp tajās tēlotajiem notikumiem.

The purpose of the Bachelor Paper “Narrative Techniques in Michael Cunningham’s Novel “The Hours” is to describe the narrative techniques and their functions, and analyse how Michael Cunningham has put them into practice. The theoretical part outlines the narrative strategies and the types of narration in literature. It provides definitions of the most relevant narrative strategies and their examples from the novel under discussion. The body of the research presents the analysis of the methods the author used to link the three story lines representing different periods of time. It also provides a detailed discussion of the recurrent motives and symbols in the three story lines and how the events relate to each others.
