Pētījumu (pētnieciskā darba) mērķis ir jautājumu aplūkošana dzīvam (reālam) notikumam un rakstveida (grāmatas) notikumam tādā veidā, kā tas attēlots Lui de Bernjē romānā “Kapteiņa Korelli mandolīna”.

Pētnieciskā darba metodes un ziņu vākšana: romāna “Kapteiņa Korelli mandolīna”, zinātniskās literatūras un MIL (masu informācijas līdzekļi) izpēte un kritiskā analīze, par tematu rakstveida (grāmatas) notikumam.

Vispārējais darba raksturojums: darbs sastāv no piecām nodaļām, kurās autors apspriež romānu un rakstnieku, tiek aprakstīti dažādi vēstures traktējumi, to starpā tradicionālā pieeja un “jauno vēsturnieku” un “kultūras materiālistu” pieeja, kā arī to rašanās (rašanās, parādīšanās iemesli) un mērķi; tiek apspriesta dzīvā “reālā” vēsture un pārspriesti politiskie risinājumi, kuri iespaido vienkāršos cilvēkus; aplūkoti dažādie izvēles varianti, kurus nākas veikt romāna personāžiem, dzīvojošiem otrā pasaules kara laikā; tiek dota dziļa gadījuma un nepieciešamības (likumsakarības) temata izpratne vēsturē.

Pētnieciskā darba pētījumu rezultātā autors izpētījis dažādus vēstures traktējumus un izanalizējis kā tradicionālā, tā arī postmodernisma pieejas rakstītai un dzīvai vēsturei, priekšrocības un trūkumus, kā arī izveidojis ideju banku turpmākajiem mūsdienu vēstures traktējumiem un pagātnes notikumu aprakstiem.

Viktorija Cmilyte “Living History and Writing History in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres”. Bachelor paper. Supervisor: Aleksejs Taube, Lecturer. The paper contains 80 pages. Thirty-seven bibliographical sources were used to make a research and to write the paper. The aim of research is to examine the questions of living history and writing history as they are presented in de Bernieres’ novel Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. The methods of research and data collection: the study and critical analysis of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, of scientific literature and mass media materials on the topic of writing history. Outline of the paper: the paper consists of five chapters, in which the author discusses Captain Corellis Mandolin and Louis de Bernieres, describes the different approaches to history, which include the traditional and the new historicist and cultural materialist approaches, as well as their origins and aims; discusses the different viewpoints on writing history in the novel; describes living history as presented in the novel and discusses the political decisions affecting the lives of ordinary people; examines the choices the novel’s characters make while living in the time of World War II; gives an insight into the theme of chance and necessity in history. As the result of the research the author studied the different approaches to history and discussed the advantages and the shortcomings of both traditional and postmodernist approaches to writing and living history and created an idea bank for further study of contemporary approaches to history and writing the past.
