The aim of this bachelor’s paper is to explore the use of economic tools in Russian foreign policy from 1991 to 2012 against Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova and to draw conclusions about its main tendencies- whether there has been a transition from implementing more negative sanctions to using more positive incentives. The main tasks of the paper are to gather available theoretical information about the main types of economic tools by exploring the studies already made in this field. Based on the theoretical information, to develop an empirical part where an analysis of the use of economic tools in Russian foreign policy is made by defining its aims, results and the type. In the conclusion the hypothesis is rejected as in relation to these three countries it can’t be assumed that there has been a transition to use more economic incentives.
