Bibliotekāra prestižs sabiedrībā ir aktuāls un nozīmīgs jautājums bibliotēku attīstībā. Bibliotēkas uzdevumi un mērķi paplašinās atbilstoši informācijas sabiedrības prasībām, bet sabiedrības priekšstati par bibliotekāriem un bibliotēkas tēls paliek nemainīgi. Tāpēc jāpēta problēma, kā mainīt sabiedrības attieksmi un paaugstināt bibliotekāru prestižu. Bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt bibliotekāra prestižu sabiedrībā. No pētījuma rezultātiem izdarīti secinājumi. Lai uzlabot bibliotēkas tēlu un celtu bibliotekāra prestižu, ir nepieciešams bibliotēkām nodrošināt labu sadarbību ar valsts struktūrām, jo valsts finansiālais un vispārīgais atbalsts ir cieši saistīti ar bibliotēkas tēlu un bibliotekāra prestižu, kā arī pašiem bibliotekāriem jāmainās, aktīvi jādarbojas, uzlabojot apkalpošanas kvalitāti un laužot vecos stereotipus sabiedrībā par bibliotekāriem. Prestige of the librarian in society is topical question of libraries development. Library’s tasks and mission are widening because of information society requirements, but society`s notions about librarians and library’s image are still the same. Therefore, should study the problem, how to change society attitudes and increase the prestige of librarians. Bachelor's research aim is to explore the librarian prestige in society. From the results of the research conclusions are drawn. To enhance the library's image and raise the prestige of the librarian, libraries need to ensure good cooperation with government institutions, because financial and overall support is closely linked with the library's image and prestige of the librarian, and librarians need to change themselves, playing an active role in improving the quality of library services and breaking the old stereotypes of librarians in society.
