Google Scholar kā zinātnieku citējamības indeksu noteikšanas līdzeklis

Šodien zināmi vairāki desmiti organizāciju, kas veido datu bāzes apkopojot zinātniskos rakstus, publikācijas, konferenču tēzes, grāmatas, nepublicētus, u.c. rakstus. Viens no to mērķiem ir uzskaitīt rakstu citējumus.
Jau ilgu laiku tieši citāti bibliometrijā tiek izmantoti, lai noteiktu zinātnieku, zinātnisko darbu un žurnālu svarīguma un „ietekmes” kvantitatīvo novērtējumu . Citiem vārdiem – rangu. Akadēmiķa/zinātnieka rangs tiek vērtēts tik pat svarīgi kā akadēmiķa vēlme tikt publicētam.
Šis darba mērķis ir apskatīt zinātnisko darbu citēšanas tēmu – rakstu apkopošanu, citāta indeksa izveidi un ranga piešķiršanu. Šajā darbā Google Scholar apskatīts attiecība pret cietiem pieejamajiem analogiem un īpaša uzmanība pievērsta tieši Google indeksa izveides metodēm un rangu aprēķinam. Master thesis title is „Google Scholar – a source for scholar citation index determination”.
Today there are tens of organizations which have created huge databases gathering scholar articles, publication, conference thesis, books and not published papers etc. One of purposes for these databases is to count the number of citations.
Research in bibliometrics has long been concerned with the use of citations to produce quantitative estimates of the importance and “impact” of individual scientific papers and journals, analogues of our notion of authority . In other words – rank. Rank for the scientist has the same importance like his wish to be published.
The aim of this paper is to get acquainted with scholar article citation theme – how academic papers and articles are being gathered, creation of citation index and ranking. In this paper I tried to describe Google Scholar against other alternative resources and special attention is paid to way the Google makes the index and provides rank calculation.
