Literāru darbu ekranizācijas bieži izraisa lielas diskusijas sakarā ar to atbilstību oriģinālam. Šī darba autore cenšas pierādīt, ka galvenā lieta, kas jāņem vērā, ir autora ideju saglabāšana. Viņa pēta literāru darbu ekranizāciju teorētiskās pieejas un sniedz rūpīgu analīzi par trīs nozīmīgākajiem ekranizāciju veidiem. Viņa skaidro, ka ir svarīgi atspoguļot oriģinālā stāsta elementus literārā darba vizuālajā atspoguļojumā. Kopumā šis darbs paplašina izpratni par atšķirībām starp literāro un vizuālo avotu, un mudina aplūkot filmas plašākā un intensīvākā veidā.

Screen adaptations often become the points of large debates concerning its correspondence to the primary source. The author of the present paper attempts to argue that the main thing in re-imagining the literary works is keeping the original author’s message from being lost. She investigates the theoretical approaches to making screen interpretations, and presents a review of three major types of literary adaptations. She explains the importance of reflecting the original narrative elements in the visual counterpart of a literary work. All in all, this work increases understanding of the difference between literary and visual sources, and encourages looking at the visual medium in a fuller and more intensive way.
