Šis darbs satur analīzi par tēmu "Totēmisms un tabu senajās īru sāgās". Viens no avotiem, kas sniedz ieskatu seno ķeltu kultūrā, ir sāgas. Senajā Īrijā ļaudis dzīvoja ciešā saskarē ar dabu un ticēja, ka augi un dzīvnieki ir starpnieki starp dieviem un cilvēkiem. Šī darba mērķis ir noskaidrot totēmisma un tabu raksturīgākās īpašības senajās īru sāgās. Lai iegūtu pamatzināšanas par totēmismu, tabu un īru sāgām, tika apskatīta attiecīgā zinātniskā literatūra. Tika veikta teorētiskās informācijas analīze, un vairākas īru sāgas tika izvēlētas, lai īstenotu praktisko izpētes darbu, apskatot totēmisma un tabu atspoguļojumu. Analizētie sāgu piemēri atklāj, ka totēmisma un tabu elementi īru sāgās ir bieži atainoti, jo šiem jēdzieniem seno ķeltu sabiedrībā ir bijusi liela nozīme.

Sagas are one of the sources providing an insight into the life of the Celts. People of the ancient Ireland lived in close connection with nature and considered plants and animals mediators between the humans and the gods. The aim of the research is to find out the main features of totemism and taboos in the Irish sagas. To gain background knowledge on totemism, taboos and the Irish sagas, literature review was carried out. Analysis of theoretical information was performed. To examine representation of totemism and taboos in the Irish sagas, several sagas were selected for practical study. The examples discussed show that the elements of totemism and taboos are widely depicted in the sagas as these concepts have been important for the Celtic society.
