Šis darbs satur analīzi par tēmu Stīva Malinsa grāmatas „Melnās svinības” tulkojums latviešu valodā. Grāmata ir britu grupas „Depeche Mode” biogrāfija. Gadu desmitiem tā ir bijusi populārākā grupa Latvijā, tomēr latviešu valodā par to nav nevienas grāmatas. No vairākām neoficiālām biogrāfijām par precīzāko tiek uzskatīta Stīva Malinsa sarakstītā grāmata. Šī darba mērķis ir izpētīt tulkotāja redzamības aspektus un tekstu tipus, lai noteiktu piemērotāko tulkošanas stratēģiju. Lai iegūtu pamatzināšanas, tika apskatīta attiecīgā zinātniskā literatūra un veikta teorijas analīze. Tika izvērtēts avoteksts un tulkojuma mērķauditorija, kā arī aplūkots šī darba autora veiktais tulkojums. Izpēte norāda uz tulkotāja redzamības un papildu informācijas nepieciešamību latviešu valodas tulkojumā.

This paper conveys research on the Translation of Steve Malins’ book ‘Black Celebration’ into Latvian, a biography of the British band ‘Depeche Mode’. For decades, ‘Depeche Mode’ has been the most popular band in Latvia; yet, there are no books about the band in Latvian. Among several unofficial biographies, the one by Steve Malins is considered the most precise. The aim of the research is to analyze translator’s visibility and text types in order to determine the appropriate translation strategy. To gain background knowledge, literature review and analysis of theoretical information was carried out. The source text and the target readership were evaluated and the translation by the author of this paper was studied. The research shows the necessity of translator’s visibility and additional information in the Latvian translation.
