Piedavātais darbs apskata jautājumu par Senekas tēla relatīvo popularitāti Italijas agrīnajā renesansē izgaismošanu. Autors apņemas pierādīt savu domu, ka katram Senekas biogrāfam pastāvēja noteikta motivācija pievērsties šim sižetam. Analizējot katras no biogrāfijām tapšanas ārpustekstuālus apstākļus, tika mēģināts noskaidrot iespējamos cēloņus, kas darbojušās katra konkrēta autora gadījumā.

- The present study deals with the question on the relative popularity that the personality of Seneca obtained during the early stages of the Renaissance. This fact becomes evident from the presence of several Seneca’s biographies that emerged, under different circumstances, in the XIVth and XVth centuries. In our paper we focus our attention on the investigation of the extratextual condition of any particular situation when the every one of these biographies was written. We intend to find a proof for our idea, that in every such a case the author has had a clear motivation to turn his attention to the Philosopher.
