Problemātiski televīzijas seriālu tulkošanas aspekti latviešu valodā

Abstract

Maģistra darba mērķis ir pētīt daţādus aspektus seriālu tulkojumu valodā, īpaši pievēršoties idiomātisku izteicienu atveidei, vārdu izvēlei un teikumu uzbūvei; burtiskam tulkojumam pievērsta sevišķa uzmanība. Tā kā LTV1 rādītie seriāli pieejami plašai auditorijai, to tulkojuma kvalitātei ir īpaši liela nozīme; tas arī ir iemesls, kāpēc pētījumam izvēlēta tieši šī joma. Darbā sniegts īss teorijas pārskats, sevišķi izceļot audiovizuālās tulkošanas specifiku; tāpat aplūkotas arī skatītāja un tulkotāja perspektīva. Darba empīriskajā daļā analizēti piemēri, kas izvēlēti no četriem detektīvseriālu tulkojumiem. Rezultāti liecina, ka viena no lielākajām problēmām seriālu tulkojumos ir burtisks tulkojums, kas noved pie nepareizi iztulkotiem idiomātiskiem izteicieniem, kā arī neveiklām teikumu konstrukcijām. The goal of the present master thesis is to explore various aspects of language in the translations of TV series, focusing on the rendering of idiomatic expressions, word choice and sentence structure; particular attention is paid to instances of literal translation. The reason for choosing this particular field for research is the fact that the TV series broadcasted on LTV1 have a possibility to reach a wide audience, thus the quality of the translation is particularly important. The thesis gives a brief overview of theory, focusing on the specifics of audiovisual translation; it also gives an insight into both the translators‟ and viewers‟ perspectives. The empirical part of the thesis presents a discussion of examples selected from four crime/detective TV series broadcast on LTV1. The findings allow to conclude that literal translation is one of the greatest issues in the translations of TV series, resulting in mistranslated idiomatic expressions and awkward sentence structure.
