Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt ilgtspējības ziņojumu žanru, izmantojot BMW Grupas Sustainable Value Report 2012 kā gadījuma izpētes materiālu. Pētījums atbild uz diviem pētījuma jautājumiem, kuros apskatīts izvēlētā ilgtspējības ziņojuma komunikatīvais mērķis, kā arī retoriskā struktūra, kas veido ziņojuma saturu. Pētījumā ir iekļauta korporatīvās ilgtspējības, ilgtspējības ziņojumu veidošanas, žanra un žanra analīzes konceptu teorētiskā analīze un pētījuma korpusa empīriskā analīze balstīta BCU pieejā žanra analīzei un vispārējās saskaņotības modelī (generic coherence model). Pētījums piedāvā Sustainable Value Report “oficiālo” un “slēpto” komunikatīvo mērķu pārskatu, kā arī sakārto izzinātos ziņojuma elementus un soļus strukturālā soļu modelī, tādejādi atbildot uz izvirzītajiem pētījuma jautājumiem.

The purpose of the present research is to investigate the genre of sustainability reports using the BMW Group’s Sustainable Value Report 2012 as a case study. The paper addresses two research questions inquiring into the communicative purpose of the selected sustainability report and the rhetorical structure of its content. The paper undertakes a theoretical analysis of the concepts of corporate sustainability, sustainability reporting, genre and genre analysis and bases the empirical analysis of the research corpus on the BCU Approach to genre analysis and a generic coherence model. The paper provides an account of the “official” and “hidden” communicative purposes of the Sustainable Value Report and arranges the discovered moves and steps of the report in a structural move model thereby answering the stated research questions.
