Igauņu valodas prasmju nepieciešamība Latvijas darba tirgū

Abstract

Bakalaura darba tēma ir „Igauņu valodas prasmju nepieciešamība Latvijas darba tirgū”. Bakalaura darbs ir iedalīts četrās daļās; pirmajā daļā tiek apskatīta valodu apgūšanas nozīme un motivācija, kā arī Europas Savienības valodu politika, otrajā daļā tiek aplūkota ekonomikas un valodas savstarpējās attiecības, trešajā daļā tiek aplūkota valodu situācija Latvijā un igauņu valodas apgūšanas iespējas Latvijā, ceturtajā daļā tiek analizēti aptaujā un intervijā iegūtie dati. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir iegūt datus, aptaujājot darbiniekus un intervējot darba devējus, lai izpētītu, vai igauņu valodas prasmes Latvijas darba tirgū ir pieprasītas un labi apmaksātas. Bakalaura darba rezultāti parāda, ka visi intervētie uzņēmēji cenšas apkalpot savus klientus viņu dzimtajā valodā, kas paver darba iespējas cilvēkiem ar igauņu valodas zināšanām, tajā pat laikā pieprasījums pēc igauņu valodā runājošiem darbiniekiem ir lielāks nekā piedāvājums. The Bachelor’s thesis “Necessity of the Estonian Language Skills in Latvia’s Labour Market” is divided into four parts. The first section gives an insight into the language acquisition and its motivation, as well as the language policy of the Europas Union; the second part describes the relationship between the language and the economy, the third part gives an insight into the language situation in Latvia as well as the opportunities to learn the Estonian language in Latvia, the fourth part presents the analysis and discussion of the results. The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to gather data on the necessity of the Estonian language skills in Latvia’s labour markey by conducting interviews with employers and distributing questionnaires to employees who use Estonian at work in order to find out whether the Estonian language skills are demanded and well-paid in Latvia. The results show that the interviewed companies are trying to serve their customers in their mother tongue, which offers opportunities of work to people with knowledge of the Estonian language. At the same time the demand for the Estonian-speaking employees is greater than the supply. Keywords: Estonian, labor market, foreign language skills
