Sūtība: aicinājuma nozīme vīriešiem, kuri nodarbināti pirmsskolas izglītības iestādēs

Abstract

Šis darbs izvērš plašāku termina “aicinājums” nozīmi un pēta, kā šis termins palīdz aplūkot individuālu personu karjeras izvēles iemeslus. Par pamatu tiek izmantota Pjēra Burdjē teorija, kuras paplašināšanai es izvēlējos pētīt vienu no nozarēm, kurā Rietumu sabiedrībā vērojama dzimumu asimetrija. Šī nozare – pirmsskolas izglītība (PSI) – bieži tiek izmantota kā piemērs profesijai, kuras veikšanai nepieciešams aicinājums. Lai ilustrētu dažādus faktorus, kuri ietekmē aicinājuma procesu, esmu iekļāvis arī R. V. Konela un Dž. Akeres teorētiskos materiālus, kuri tiek plaši izmantoti PSI pētījumos. Šis darbs parāda, kā sabiedrības strukturālā daba nosaka lomas, kuras cilvēki pilda savā karjerā. Darbā tiek piedāvāts skatīt aicinājuma jēdzienu plašākā kontekstā, argumentējot, ka pilnīgāku ieskatu aicinājumā iespējams iegūt aplūkojot ne tikai dzimti, bet veicot arī prestiža un ekonomisko apsvērumu analīzi. Drawing upon the theory by Pierre Bourdieu, this paper extends the term ‘vocation’ and explores how this term lets us look at the forces behind the professional choices of individuals. To extend the theoretical framework of Bourdieu, I chose to analyse one of the fields that is the most gender-skewed in Western society and is often used as an example for a field that required person to have a vocation – early childhood education (ECE). In order to illustrate the different factors that affect the process of vocation, I have included the theories of R. W. Connell and J. Acker that are widely used in ECE research. The paper shows how the structural nature of society determines the actor choices in relation to her or his career. The thesis argues that to get a more complete picture of vocation it is important to encompass not only gender, but also prestige and economic considerations in analysis.
