Multiplās sklerozes izplatība Latvijā un ārstēšanas iespējas

Multiplā skleroze pagaidām vēl ir pilnībā neizārstējama neiroloģiska slimība, kas bojā centrālo nervu sistēmu, traucējot impulsu pārraidi.
Maģistra darba mērķis bija noskaidrot multiplās sklerozes izplatību Latvijā un ārstēšanas iespējas. Pētījums tika veikts Latvijas Multiplās sklerozes centrā (LMSC) un Mēness aptiekā – 11. Informācija tika iegūta no LMSC datu bāzes un no aptiekā saņemtajām receptēm. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka sievietes biežāk slimo ar multiplo sklerozi. Visbiežāk lietotie preparāti ir INFβ-1b un INFβ-1a grupas medikamenti.

Up to now there is no known cure for multiple sclerosis, an inflammatory disease in which the fatty myelin sheaths around the axons of the brain and spinal cord are damaged, leading to demyelination and scarring.
The aim of master thesis was to clarify dissemination of multiple sclerosis in Latvian population and possibilities to treat multiple sclerosis in Latvia. The study was carried out in Latvian Multiple sclerosis centre (LMSC) and Mēness aptiekā – 11. Information was obtained from LMSC data basis and prescriptions for multiple sclerosis medications dispensed via pharmacy. Data show that women more often than men suffer from this disease and the most often prescribed drugs are INFβ-1b and INFβ-1a related medicines.
