Nowadays, young people - students go abroad in order to get life and work experience, improve knowledge of languages. Going abroad, students already have idea about the country where they go, about its citizens whom they will meet, about the culture, but very often this information is not precise as this information is usually based an experience of another person, his thoughts or even stereotypes which form in this person's culture. The aim of my Bachelor Paper to search the transformation of ethnocultural stereotypes after intercultural communication. The object of my search are Russian speaking young people - students (18-25 years old) who live in Latvia and who worked in the USA. Using the deep(glubokoe) interview it is possible to make a conclusion that ethnic stereotypes are really stable, however in the result of intercultural communication they can partly transform. Searching the stereotypes of different nationality and communication with its representatives, it is possible better to understand one's own culture. After the intercultural communication people start to treat stereotypes more criticaly, understand that despite the fact that stereotypes are precise enough it cannot be referred to representatives of all groups of society.
