The theme of this diploma work is to investigate the influence of the social work profession on a social worker’s personality traits and characteristics. The goal of the degree work is to understand the changes in social worker personality traits, as influenced by professional work experience.
The degree work consists of four chapters. The first three chapters describe personality factors that affect character, and personal qualities and features that social workers should possess to be successful. There is a methodology and analysis of the empirical research in the fourth chapter, which contains four subchapters.
Within the framework of the degree work, the authors investigated materials created by practitioners and theoreticians of psychology, sociology and social work, and the changes in a person’s character during his or her life. The authors investigated the influence of the workplace and environment on a person’s character, as well as the theoretically described character features necessary for a social worker. In the empirical part of the work, the authors conducted advanced, partially structured interviews with twelve social work professionals.
