The antioxidant activity of different low-molecular and high-molecular polyphenols was investigated during this work. Polyphenols structure’s influence on their antioxidant properties has been shown. Low-molecular polyphenols have been extracted from Latvian’s trees wood and bark, but some have been bought. The first group’s lignins are isolated from different plant sources, using Bjorkman’s procedure. The second group’s lignins have been gotten from Bjorkman’s lignins, making their reduction with sodium borhidride. The third group’s lignins are biologically modified lignins, which are isolated from grass composts. The fourth group’s lignins are technical lignins, which have been gotten as waste products from different fitomass processing (cellulose production using sulfit, sodium hidroxyde methods and pyrolitical oil production). For the evaluation of antioxidant activity of theese samples different methods were used.
