Leksēmas ALL un semantika un sintakse angļu valodā

Semantika un sintakse ir savstarpēji viena no otras atkarīgi lingvistiska pētījuma segmenti. Valodniecībā šie aspekti ir plaši apspriesti, un jautājums vai sintakse ietekmē interpretāciju vai arī otrādi – nozīme ir tā, kas iespaido sintaksi, joprojām tiek diskutēts.
Šis maģistra darbs apskata leksēmas ALL samantiku un sintaksi, kā arī pēta tās īpašības, kas skar tādus valodas aspektus kā polisēmiju, nozīmes nenoteiktību, kategoriju gradāciju u.c. Vēsturisks leksēmas pētījums atklāj, kā tā saistās ar citām leksēmām un nozīmes paplašinājumu no senās angļu līdz mūsdienu angļu valodai. Ar amerikāņu angļu valodas datubāzes palīdzību šajā darbā ir apskatīts, kā ALL tiek lietota, un šī pētījuma rezultāti apstiprina iepriekšējos pētījumus par šo leksēmu.
Pētījums pierāda, ka leksēma ALL nav ne semantiski, ne sintaktiski ‘stabila’, jo novērojams, ka tā paplašina savu nozīmi, kā rezultātā arī – sintakstiskās īpašības. Leksēmai ALL dažos kontekstos ir nenoteikta nozīme. Semantics and syntax are interrelated segments of linguistic study. In linguistics these aspects are widely discussed as being interrelated and the question whether syntax influences the reading (semantics) or on the contrary, the meaning is the one that may affect syntax is negotiated up to now.
This master paper presents an overview of the lexeme’s ALL semantic and syntactic behavior in the language and investigation of its peculiar features that involve such aspects of the language as Polysemy, Ambiguity, Categorial Gradience, etc. Diachronic study of the lexeme sheds some light on its collocational possibilities and meaning expansion from Old English up to the Present-day English. With the help of Corpus-based research the paper provides evidence of the use of ALL in English and supports the results of previous researches on ALL.
The results of the research show that the lexeme ALL appears to be neither semantically nor syntactically fixed in the sense that it keeps extending its senses and inevitably – syntactic features. Moreover, it is one of the most frequently encountered lexemes in fixed expressions and it often is ambiguous in its readings.
