Daigas Gailītes diplomdarba “Tulkošanas problēmas modes terminoloģijas jomā” galvenais mērķis ir iepazīties ar modes terminoloģiju un apzināties problēmas tās atveidē. Kā praktiskās analīzes galvenais avots izvēlēta mūsdienu modes ikonas Viktorijas Bekhemas grāmata “That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything In Between”. Darbā tiek apskatīti arī teorētiskie aspekti saistība ar literāru darbu tulkošanu. Darba autore patstāvīgi pētījusi vairāk kā 400 mūsdienu modes terminus un vārdkopas, kā rezultātā izveidots apjomīgs glosārijs, kurā doti tulkojumi 417 valodas vienībām. Līdzīgi kā citās terminoloģijas nozarēs, arī šajā informācija nav pieejama vienkopus un, lai kvalitatīvi veiktu tulkojumu, ir jāizmanto daudz dažādi avoti. Tieši tāpēc, sadarbojoties ar nozares speciālistiem, modes terminoloģijas jomā nepieciešams ieviest vienotu datubāzi vai izdot nopietnu, modernu vārdnīcu. The Diploma paper of Daiga Gailīte “Problems in Translating Fashion Terminology” primarily deals with the terminology problems, in particular the fashion terminology. The literary work by Victoria Beckham “That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything In Between” was chosen for the practical analysis. Besides, some theoretical aspects relevant to the subject matter have been studied. On the basis of the research the glossary have been developed which provides the translation into Latvian of 417 terms and collocations. To conclude, the main problem is that the information is scattered around in various sources and there is no clarity of what really goes on in the field of fashion, what terms should be added, which ones should be updated or even omitted due to being out-of-date. The field is in vital need of a development of a reliable source for fashion term translation.
