Leksēma ‘Woman’ angļu valodas korpusos

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta leksēma woman angļu valodas korpusos. Bakalaura darbs iekļauj literatūras apskatu par korpusa bāzes leksiku un semantisko analīzi angļu valodā, kas bija izmantota kā teorētiskais fons. Pētījuma mērķis ir veikt detalizētu izpēti leksēmai woman Britu Nacionālajā Korpusā, lai izveidotu plašāku priekšstatu par tās izmantošanu angļu valodā. Empīriskais pētījums ietver sevī leksēmu izpēti un analīzi dažādos līmeņos. Pēc vārdu līmeņa, pētījums koncentrējās uz atvasinājumu morfoloģiskajām īpašībām. Pēc frāzes līmeņa, vārdu savienojumi ar vārdu woman tiek pētīti Britu Nacionālajā Korpusā. Pēc semantiskā līmeņa, tika veikta semantiskā lauka komponentes analīze. Autors konstatēja lielu skaitu negatīvās konotācijas par leksēmu woman, arī vārdu savienojumi ar leksēmu woman Britu Nacionālajā Korpusā atspoguļo līdzšinējo sieviešu nevienlīdzību britu valodā, kura joprojām palieka pārstāvēta valodā, bet ne sabiedribā.

The present thesis investigates the lexeme woman in English corpora. The paper includes the review of the literature on corpus-based lexical and semantic analysis of English, which was used as a theoretical background. The goal of the present research is to conduct detailed investigation of the representation of the lexeme woman in BNC in order to build a possibly wider picture of its use in the English language. The empirical research included the study of the lexeme at different levels of analysis. At the word level, the research focused on the morphological characteristics of the derivations. At the phrase level, collocations and phraseological units with the base word woman were investigated in the BNC. At the semantic level, componential analysis of the semantic field was conducted. The author concludes that the discovered high frequency of negative connotations of the lexeme woman and its collocations in BNC reflects former inequality of woman in British language, which is still remaining represented in the language albeit not in the society.
