Slepkavību apzīmējošo terminu izcelsmes analīze

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta slepkavību apzīmējošo terminu izcelsme angļu valodā. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot ar slepkavību saistīto terminu veidošanos un izcelsmi, kā arī atklāt vispārīgas tendences juridiskās terminoloģijas attīstībā. Pētīšanas metodes ietver valodas pārmaiņu, juridiskās angļu valodas attīstības vēstures izpēti, kā arī ar izpētes jomu saistīto terminu analīzi, izmantojot kvantitatīvu un kvalitatīvu metožu apvienojumu. Pētījuma teorētiskajā daļā raksturota vēsturiskās lingvistikas un etimoloģijas nozare, kā arī sniēgts pārskats par krimināltiesību veidošanās vēsturi un juridiskās terminoloģijas attīstību. Tajā arī aprakstītas galvenie jaunu juridisko terminu rašanās tendences, kā arī vārdu veidošanas procesa principi. Pētījums aptvēris četrdesmit vienu slepkavību apzīmējošu terminus, kam analizēta to etimoloģiskā izcelsme. Informācijas apkopošanā izmantotas sešas dažādas angļu valodas vārdnīcas. Pētījuma rezultāti atklāj, ka juridiskās terminoloģijas attīstībā angļu valodā dominē aizguvumi no latīnu valodas. Atslēgvārdi: slepkavība, krimināltiesības, juridiskā terminoloģija, aizguvums, neologisms, semantiskās izmaiņas.

The Bachelor Thesis investigates the origin of terms designating homicide in the English language. The aim of the research is to study the origin and formation of homicide-related terms in order to reveal general trends in the development of legal terminology. The research methods include the study of language change, history of the development of legal English, and the analysis of terms related to the research field by the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The theoretical part of the research describes the science of historical linguistics and etymology, as well overviews the history of criminal law and development of legal terminology within it. It also presents the main patterns of emergence of new terms in legal terminology, as well as what word-formation types are involved in this process. The research includes a sample of forty-one homicide-related terms, which were analysed according to their etymological origin. The information was compiled from six different English dictionaries. The research findings reveal that borrowing from Latin dominates in the evolution of legal terminology in the English language.
