Biežāk sastopamā melanomas stadija ir I 52%.
The incidence rate of skin cancer is increasing yearly worldwide.
The aim of the study was to describe the incidence of melanoma and compare the results with RAKUS LOC for the year 2008.
The data used in this study was collected in the RAKUS LOC arhive.
From 93 patients 69 were diagnosed with melanoma, 24 with nevus. Age range was 23-86 years and sex ratio 1:1,2. Common localized site in women is body 44% and legs 44%, in men it is body 64%. 2/3 of patients BMI is > 25. Common cancer stage is I 52%. The most common histologic form is superficial 71%. The highest risk of developing metastases is in nodular melanoma form. After surgical treatment, hospitalization time is longer in patients with melanoma 10d., than in nevus 7d.
The past 30 years, the incidence and mortality rate of malignant melanoma is increasing worldwide. In Latvia the incidence has doubled and mortality rate has tripled.
The diagnostic and surgical methods used in LOC correspond to the principles of the guidelines.
