The goal of the paper ‘The Image of J.J.Jilinger: the Comparative Analysis of the National Press Publications and Perceptions of Theatre Visitors’ is to compare the image of J.J.Jilinger, which is constructed in the national press publications and the perceptions of theatre visitors. The problem of the research is the comparison of the media constructed J. J. Jilinger’s image and the perceptions of theatre visitors. The research combines discourse analysis and structured interviews. The structure contains ‘Theatre of Cruelty’ by Artaud, postmodernism in Latvia, the theory of media constructed reality by K. Merten, public opinion and the theory of the spiral of silence by E. Noelle-Neumann. Second part offers the discourse analysis of the national press publications, structured interviews and the comparative analysis of both.
