The aim of this work is to explore the role and the contribution of public relations and advertising in achieving success of social campaigns. The problem discussed in this thesis – the activities implemented during social campaigns are not sufficiently effective to fundamentally change the development of social processes in Latvian society. The hypothesis raised – social campaigns „Paēdušai Latvijai”, „Lielā talka” and the campaign of preventing emigration can attract larger amounts of public attention by using the instruments of public relations and advertising according to the needs and expectations of society.
The bachelor’s paper discusses the theoretical approach of integrated marketing communications, social marketing, advertising and public relations. The research is based on the results of the survey, analysis of the interview and the qualitative content analysis of the campaigns mentioned. The outcome testifies the need to include various wide spectrum types of communication in social campaigns as well as the necessity to create the message according to needs and expectations of society. By implementing social campaigns this way it is possible to address the consequences of the social problems more effectively and prevent the causes of these problems.
