The development of financial industry has raised the issue of socially responsible behaviour among the industry professionals. The research aim of the Paper is to identify corporate social responsibility (CSR) regularities and trends in the financial services industry of Latvia from 2005 to 2007 evaluating both consumers’ and entrepreneurs’ opinions. The research includes quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative method comprises surveying of consumers and entrepreneurs, whereas the qualitative method consists of in-depth interviews with consumers and entrepreneurs. The qualitative data are processed on the basis of the Grounded theory. The research revealed that notwithstanding the CSR development in financial services industry in recent years there are factors impeding this development, such as insufficient knowledge on the part of consumers and entrepreneurs about the nature of CSR and inability to assess the results and productivity generated by this behaviour.
