Viens no paņēmieniem, kas palīdz jēgpilni organizēt un strukturēt arvien pieaugošos informācijas apjomus tā, lai cilvēki varētu atrast nepieciešamo informācija, ir informācijas arhitektūra.
Pētījuma galvenais mērķis ir noskaidrot informācijas arhitektūras nozīmi tīmekļvietņu izveidē un to produktīvā un efektīvā izmantošanā.
Darba gaitā, izpētot dažādas metodes, rīkus un labo praksi, formulēta pieeja informācijas arhitektūras pilnveidošanai, kā praktisks piemērs novērtēta LNB.LV tīmekļvietnes lietojamība un veikta potenciālo lietotāju viedokļu izpēte. Balstoties uz to, izveidoti un novērtēti divi konceptuāli atšķirīgi uzlabotas vietnes struktūras varianti. Pētījuma rezultāti apliecina, ka vietnes informācijas arhitektūras uzlabošana, iesaistot procesā gala lietotājus, nodrošina augstāku lietojamību.

One of the approaches that helps to organize ever growing amounts of information into meaningful structures enabling people to find necessary information is information architecture.
Aim of this research is to determine significance of information architecture in website design, and effective and efficient use of websites.
Initially various methods, tools and best practices were analysed and information architecture improvement approach was defined. To validate it the usability of National Library of Latvia website was evaluated and user research was performed. As a result of that two new conceptually different versions of website structure were proposed and tested. Research results confirm that user-centered improvement of information architecture helps to achieve better usability of website.
